More on the Sarasota Dog Hunts

It looks like the puppy huggers are getting in on the action regarding the pig hunts in Sarasota. Since I like a good dust up I will air all sides to the story.

SDA President Elise Matthes wants everone to know that, The Sarasota County Commissioners’ meeting regarding a DOG HOG HUNT has been changed to July 10th, Tuesday, at 1:30 at the South County Courthouse, in Venice -4000 South Tamiami Trail.

She seems to be concerned about the chosen method for eradicating the pigs. “The ONLY weapons used to kill these huge hogs are DOGS AND KNIVES. That’s right, no guns, they are STABBED TO DEATH.” while I have not been involved in any of the meetings or discussions regarding this program, I am assuming that they are using the dog and knife method to limit the number of bullets flying around in the parks and or areas near homes.

She also states “The hogs are mutilated and suffer a slow and torturous death. Dogs are often maimed and suffer and can die a horrible death.”  I can honestly state that I wouldn’t want to have my throat slit while locked up by a pile of dogs, I hardly think that dog and knife hunters mutilate the pigs or cause them to suffer for any length of time. Yes it is true that the dogs do get hurt at times, most of the dog hunters that I know carry enough equipment and have enough knowledge to patch those dogs up on the spot and most treat their dogs pretty darn well.

We will see how this all works out and if it doesn’t, maybe we can get in line for some good shooting and help the folks in Sarasota county out with their pig problem.

“One shot one kill, right? Now if I could only get the rest to stand still, I could keep shooting!”
